EOD, lets see, seems to me we used to get the laziest, fattest gold brick to
go out and play mine detector.....actually, most all of the tools used are
not steel. They are all non sparking. We all carried kits with all American
made tools. That was strange. We would find un-exploded ordnance of all
sorts. Even an occasional bomb. They were transported on deuces and as
someone said , 1008's. The beds were lined with wood or aluminum. The
ordnance would be transported to a "safe area" and set down in a hole. After
several weeks and many items, we would "blow" the stuff in the hole. We set
a charge of C4 (C3) on one of the lower pieces and everything would go
together. Usually, range control personnel and the EOD personnel work
together. There is always an amnesty box at range control for unexploded
items the soldiers were afraid to "liberate". Although dangerous, I never
thought much of it. It was fun. 1SG Pantano
