Let's not be hasty on condeming Mr Littlefield as it could be well possible
that his exporter from the UK, or whereever did not de-mil the scud to the
required BATF specs. He had already imported one unit, and perhaps whoever
was supposed to prepare it for shipment did not do it per his specs. Now
he is charged by BATF. As a class III firearms dealer I am aware companies
who have imported MG parts sets cut to BATF specs and when the container
arrived and went through inspection they weren't cut right or the guys
doing the cutting got tired and threw several complete guns on top of the
load because they got tired. I know of one guy when he worked for a parts
supplier that spent several weeks in a warehouse on th LA docks with a chop
saw doing a whole container of Sten guns fixing a what the exporter failed
to do right, under BATF supervsion. I guess the moral to the story is if
you are importing some of the BATF items it's best to inspect it yourself
as it goes into the container, or have someone you trust inspect it before
it leaves. Mr Littlefield may be innocent as he was under the assumption
the shipment was prepared correctly.
