[MV] Topics out of control

Fellow MV listers:

I'm not sure why Arthur hasn't stepped in yet, but I'll bet he will soon.
We've got two threads that are in danger of exceeding critical mass, and,
though I am personally very interested in both, I think we oughta let 'em
die before damage is done.

1) Judging, Crates, and Sensibilities. Some of you may remember that we've
howed this row before, about two years ago, and some of you may remember my
"Authenticity" post that fueled the fire. Some of you may also remember
that we lost some contributors because of the trouble. Now, I haven't
changed my mind that there's room for many approaches in the hobby and that
"factory fresh" is not necessarily the only way to be right, but I have
learned that, in order to carry on with the business of helping one another
with info, leads, and tips, we need to avoid calling the other fellow into
question.

2) SCUDs, the Feds, and Regulated, Armed Bear Malitias. I'm an NRA member,
so you can probably guess that my interpretation of the 2nd Amendment is
that the only way you can have a "well-regulated [i.e. drilled, not
rule-smothered] militia" is to allow citizens unfettered access to firearms.
BUT, this is a Military Vehicles mailing list, not a 2nd Amendment mailing
list. As devisive as this issue is, I think it's best left to that list,
not this one.

The point, folks, is that this list is to bring MV people together, to
foster cooperation, and to cultivate help and friendship. We don't have to
agree on everything--even what makes for a "good" MV--but we should agree
not to divide ourselves.

Respectfully submitted,

Steve Allen
