One way to have support without wear in the front end is as follows:
If the front hub flanges are large enough, have the insides machined out to
take a roller bearing. If they are not, then have them opened up just enough
to accept a bushing and have the machine shop put a zerk fitting on the
outside, then add it to your maintenance schedule. Easy, and not too
expensive considering the benefits. And don't kid yourself about the degree
of benefit, either. My lockouts on my M-37 make so much of a difference it's
hard to decide where to begin. Better braking, much better handling, no front
wear, less noise, better power, front knuckles stopped leaking, etc. The
M-38A1 I used to drive a lot had the front axle disabled some of the time and
it was more fun too, on pavement anyway. This all is assuming you have a
transfer case that you can deselect. Isn't there a way to lock the M-211 in
rear wheel drive only? mike in VA still looking for an M151A2
