My Ferret has a very noticable flat spot (a 3 x conventional ball bearing
system) at the straight ahead position, it being a wheeled vehicle I was
quite surprised that this has happened, it has 1500 miles since base
workshop overhaul.
Now to get to my point.
What will happen to the diff., carrier bearings and for that matter any
other bearings or bushings in a "neutered" axle. When you do have to use
the thing what will be the result? Will the bearings collapse?
Just how quick does flat spotting occur?
Is it far better to pull all un-needed components out (diff, drive shaft,
axles etc) store them away safely and make blanking plates to cover all
openings?
Regards
Doug
