I am beginning to have a problem with my M37. It started when my father was
using the truck. He said the truck started to "sputter" while he was
driving. He got it home and found the following things. The engine was not
smoking (black, etc) and when he shut it off and tried to start it, it
would not start. He disconnected the fuel line between the pump and
carburetor, turned over the engine nothing came out for a couple of seconds
and then fuel started to come out. He hooked the line back up and truck
started. I ran the truck for a couple weeks after that when the problem
happened again. When there was a load on the engine it would "sputter". I
got the truck back home and shut the truck off. I tried to start it again
and it would not. After letting the truck cool down 15-30 minutes, it
started up. The truck ran fine for a couple of weeks and did it again. This
time a left the truck running and checked the following.
1. fuel tank cap for vapor lock - nothing
2. fuel pump has heat guard over it and was warm to touch but not hot.
3. fuel line between pump and carburetor - was warm to touch but not hot
and it is away from manifold.
4. carburetor - was warm to touch, using throttle at the carb I gave the
truck gas and could not get the engine to "sputter".
5. I shut the truck off and it would not start back up again until it
cooled off.

I did not know if this sounds like the fuel pump is going?

Any ideas before I buy a rebuild kit for the fuel pump? Is there anything
else I should look at? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
