The WWII Jeeps and Dodge trucks had a externally mounted "tank" that was
usually crudely mounted on the front of the grille. These "expansion" tanks
saved the coolant. When the engine cooled--the coolant was sucked back into
the radiator. I have several of these tanks. They were used in the African
desert, Burma and in the u.S. Desert areas. Most of the tanks were
Chevrolet--G.M. and so marked. All were black--the motor pool guys would
paint them other colors if time permitted. 1SG PANTANO
