The new gas is definitely harder on engines. The new chemicals are worse for
you than the lead in the old stuff. On 2 other occasions I know of fellow
mechanics with recent lung problems including myself and it's on account of
burning the new gas.I have less problems with diesel. The octane rating is
temporary using butane injection just enough to boost the reading.Who knows
what else is used.
We found a old Land Rover that still had gas in it from 1986 and bought
it.We just fired it up and drove straight to the emissions testing.Passed
with flying colours.Didn't have a problem with the old gas untill new stuff
was put in,then it ran like crap and had to be retuned. The new stuff also
causes a lot of dieseling when you shut down and are tuned properly for
emissions.
