Any hints on pulling an M38's steering wheel off? I was all set to rebuild my
steering gear (thanks to John Bizal's parts!) but was completely frustrated in
my attempts to pull that #$%^&@! wheel off the shaft.
So far I've applied penetrating oil, heated the inside of the end of the shaft
with a light-duty torch several times, but so far no good. I'm using a 4"
gear puller with a steel ring under the wheel to spread the pulling pressure.
I've had this moma cranked down so tight the plastic of the wheel is cracking
and I'm beginning to damage the end of the shaft where the nut threads on.
Grrrr... I'm going to take a break before I break something or myself -
probably both.
