Bit like the DUKW gearbox and transfer problem; when you are driving on
the land everything is turning and splash lubed, when you are in the water
the marine drive comes from the side of the gearbox, so the transfer case
input shaft is turning while the marine drive is running, but it is above
the oil level in the case. I'd use a tow dolly for a jeep, with the rear
shafts out if I was towing for hundreds of miles.
