I towed home a beat up '51 M38 my Grandfather had, that supposedly had a =
complete engine overhaul a couple of years ago. It started and ran rough =
and made lots (and LOTS and LOTS) of rich fuely smoke. I ran it for less =
that five minutes and put the choke and throttle back in afet it seemed =
like it would stay running. (no experience with a choke or throttle) The =
smoke did not seem do go away, but the car has not been run in a couple =
years and perhaps that will go away after a good long drive?
Also, the pedals shake with the engine a little, and when I push in the =
clutch the other pedals move, kind of like on an old shower when you turn =
the hot water and the pipes move around behind the wall and you can see =
the cold water handle move. Is this normal in these old Jeeps or has =
something serious come loose?
Lastly, do I need to run a lead substitute in this old engine or will it =
be fine on unleaded?
Much appreciated,
