My tailgate looks like Swiss cheese, and I am not certain about some of the
holes I may want to keep. Does anyone have dimensions for the following
hole placements:
- Jerry can (I think I know the location of these holes, but the one I
suspect is the bottom right when facing the tailgate is about 3/4 inch in
diameter. Is this correct? Note, I am assuming that there are 4 holes?)
- The spare tire carrier (I assume I will need to get the 2 lug for the 1945
MB, and the lower supporting foot. I will need hole locations for both)
- Canvas hold down strap loops for the top. (I have a set of 4 on the
vehicle, but there are another set of holes above these that look like they
may have been original)
- Reflectors (This area has been patched and rusted out several times, and I
had to totally reconstruct. A couple of reference points to drill new holes
will be helpful).
- A picture of a tailgate from the inside the tub I saw recently
(http://members.aol/MyTJoe73/Page11.html) has an apparent bolt and bracket
about 6 or 8 inches right of center (facing aft) at a height just above
seat cushion. What is this for, and does anyone have the precise
dimensions?
- I know the location of the holes for the corner handles. But I still have
a lot more holes. Any of these others I want to keep, and what do they go
to? Or should I fill them?
One last question: One of the bolts to the bracket that holds the bar to
rear seat back is damaged. Has anyone removed one of these? How do I go
about this?
Thanks in advance.

Enjoy your day, hopefully in a 1945 (MB) jeep!
