for several weeks i have been reading the postings to the pages here and have
found everything quite interesting. i just purchased a 47 or 48 willis jeep
from my hunting guide in montana. i last saw the vehicle 3 years ago and it's
been stored in a barn ever since. but this is my first military vehicle and i
need help with everything!
i paid $1500 for it delivered to my home in atlanta georgia. it's all original
with the exception of the electrical system being converted to 12v. the floor
pan has been repaired with some metal plates being welded to the floor,
otherwise it's rust free. the tires are new. the brakes are inoperative, but
the engine will run. did i get a fair deal?
i doon't know yet how much i will restore the vehicle, but would like
information on where to get repair kits and parts. my good friend was cw4 in
the ga. national guard who ran the motor pool and remembers a good deal of how
to rebulid them. he will be a great source of information.
any problem areas i need to be looking out for? any items that will enhance
the ultimate value? i know that you don't do this to ever make money, but i
don't want to loose my ass if i decide to sell the thing within a few years.
thanks for all your help.
