I just recently purchased a M38A1 willys jeep and need to know a little
about it. (Another project, even though I haven't finished the first
ones. :-) ) I am not sure what year it is because the data plate is
missing. So I would like to find the serial number and compare it to the
members on the list to find out the year.
Also, I am not getting any fire to the plugs. The jeep has civilian
plugs and wires and I am converting it back to military. I have
waterproof wires and the plugs are on order and coming. What should the
gap be? The current plugs are new and should be getting fire to them at
least. I have switched out the coil and distributor. Both are good. It
looks to have new condenser, rotor and cap. I am getting current to the
switch. (The little red light comes on.) What are the letters of the
four wires on harness supposed to be and in what order hooked up at the
switch? Someone has put a new wire from the switch to the distributor. I
don't have a light meter so I can't tell where the current stops at. Any
suggestions? Thanks a bunch.
