Hi Steve,

I was following the thread myself for the same reason. Although I have
the C-15 Service Manual. In it, there is a front-on photo and labels
for the different markings on the truck. It has a label that points to
the top of the bonnet that says gas detection.

I am away from home at the moment or I would get the book and give you
an exact quote.

Keep in mind, that although the book is dated 42, the gas panel may
have been "forgotten" about out in the field. I will be applying a
panel to my truck.

It is hard to find photo documentation for this because the angle of
the bonnet is edge-on to the perspective of most cameras. You need an
overhead shot.

Hope this helps

Cheers

With reference to the earlier correspondence on painted chemical warfare
markings on vehicles:

Does anyone know if this idea was ever applied to vehicles of other
nations' armies, especially the British Army? I had not heard of it
before, and my late father served in WWII with the 8th Army Signals Corps
near the front line in North Africa and Italy. During this time he saw
mustard gas used, so if this warning system was particularly applied to
signals trucks I would be interested to know more. (This with a view to
accuracy of a restoration, so still on-thread!)

Thanks.
