[MV] M35A2 Air Shift Transfer Case Question

I have a 1968 M35A2 21/2 Ton truck with a manual shift transfer case. I
found a complete air shift transfer case to swap into the truck. Can I just
swap the air shift portion of the transfer case or must I swap out the
entire transfer case unit? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
