My brother told me about when the Florida National Guard changed over from
Dot 3 to Silicone they would drain the systems and flush them out with
alcohol. Supposedly this was done to all vehicles in the inventory at once
and the inventory was purged of stocks of the old type fluid so that there
wouldn't be any chance of getting them mixed up. I run Dot 3 in my M-715
and plan on draining the fluid this year and replae it with new Dot 3. If
you change out the fluid every 2 years (in theory anyway) you shouldn't get
much corrosion from the water that Dot 3 tends to absorb. I hope this is
correct. Just my $.02 worth.
