I have a 1942 GPW, DOD 3-30-42, body number and frame number GPW11459; but
engine stamping at water pump is 4LR174056.

Casting number on RH is 908756; but aluminum ID plate on block above casting
number reads Willys of Canada Ltd. Windsor Ont., engine number 4 C 1169.
JEEP Factory Rebuilt Engine Assembly

The engine has a GPW cylinder head. Jeep served in Alaska.

I agree with Todd that very few 1942 GPW's still have the original engine.
