in your jeep is incorrect sir. Although that one will work in your GPW, I
encourage you to perhaps one day find a correct GPW block if it so pleases
you.

I do believe Joel will agree. (GIjeepsWW2@aol.com) >>
Well, I'm not sheriff here so I guess it doesn't matter what I agree or
disagree with. I do encourage everyone to do the best they can to make their
military vehicle restoration project as complete and accurate as can they can.
I also know what an uphill battle that can be. One battle I am fighting right
now is trying to find out what sort of motor GPW 4 had when it left the
factory. I figured that it had a Ford motor just like all the other GPWs until
I found motor GPW 581. As I mentioned before, it is a Willys motor with a
Willys assembly date BUT it has a GPW serial number that looks like it was
stamped by Ford.
This has caused me to assume that the first 1000 or so GPW motors were
probably built by, and purchased from, Willys.
I am looking for anyone else who has come across an early Willys motor with a
GPW serial number stamped into it. If you have one, know of one, or ever see
one, please E-mail me at GIjeepsWW2@aol.com!!! Most especially if the serial
number is GPW 4.
