<< We're restoring GPW 71349, DOD 10-6-42 and it has a
441-? engine. I'll get the rest of the engine number(s) next time I'm in the
barn. Would you like to collect things like the casting numbers as well to
see if there is a common "lot" or something? We'd need Todd to decipher
those numbers. I believe Damon Lehr has a combination like this too, which
makes 5 '42 GPW's with Willys engines so far. Do you want to coordinate the
data Joel or is there another list going we should add it to >>
I can only assume that Americar motors in GPWs were replacements added later
just like some GPWs wind up with MB or CJ2A motors and vice versa (twice). I
guess I am looking specifically for Willys made motors with very low GPW
serial numbers on them and assembly dates in Dec. of 1941 and Jan of 1942
(assuming there are any more). I suppose that the directory at G503.com is as
deserving and useful a depository for this information as any place. But I
would appreciate an E-mail directly to me from anyone who finds or knows of a
motor fitting the criteria I have described above. Or any that serve to prove
the case against my assumption as well I suppose. Simplified I would like to
see information on any GPWs or GPW motors with serial numbers below GPW 1000.
