I presume this was done to increase air flow to the radiator although I
can't see how it would make that much difference. Anyone have any info
on this practice?
Same book also has a side view of another SAS Jeep with, I believe, a
.50 cal MG mounted on a short pedestal on top of the cowl on the
passenger's side. It wouldn't seem that the cowl could withstand having
gun that size mounted and fired from there, given the size of the
mounting plate under the bed of the Jeep for the normal placement of a
MG mount.
