Re: [MV] Insurance underwriters?

Regarding the insurance issue here, I am wondering if there aren't two classes
of insurance users on the list:
Guy #1 just needs the piece of paper so he can get plates to drive.
Guy #2 genuinely wants to insure for replacement value.
Personally I am guy #1 so I get my stuff insured for the minimum and keep a
sharp eye on it when it's in a "theft" area, which is rare since I'm in a
small town in VA. I didn't have a decent pic of my M37 when first insured, so
I sent a fuzzy xerox from MV magazine for their file copy and send them my $50
regularly. It's not fully restored, and of course I carry no gizmos in it
that could or would be immediately carried off ie rifles in racks, radios etc.
I consider driving to Giant for groceries "excercise", by the way. So it gets
"excercised" a WHOLE bunch in the warm months. (by the way, I notice it
doesn't leak or balk as much when it's driven daily.....)
I guess I'd be guy #2 if I had a vehicle that was high value or high risk,
but I'm not so I have no opinion about that. Seems to me that the more verbal
detail I went into with my regular car insurance guy, the more "antsy" he got.
I gave too much information to somebody who probably never even saw "Rat
Patrol"......
and as a former Marine I knew better.
I recommend ya tell them it's a motor pool restoration or combat class and
promise not to excercise it more than necessary, or whatever hoops they want
you to jump through. Why insure a woods weasel, anyhow? Do you have to in
case MaineStatePatrol gets behind you with blue lights flashing? Bet a
Weasel up there will be a blast.
