Hi List,
When I brought in my Bren Carrier 3 months ago from Calgary, Alberta,
I had no problems what so ever.
I had called US Customs, Canadian Customs and even BATF to check on
what was needed.
The big question was if the vehicle had guns on it or was made in the
US for lend lease.
I could honestly answer "no" to both. BATF said I didn't need a form
6, and Customs said they didn't have a problem either.
I hired a customs broker to meet the truck and process the paperwork.
They didn't have any problems with "missing documents" or the like,
and quickly processed the vehicle.
We had a bill of sale and the papers authorizing the shipment on a
commercial carrier. That's it.
When I brought my CMP C-15 down last year, I trailered it myself. When
I went through US Customs, all I needed was a bill of sale, the
Canadian title, and my drivers license.
You could probably do without the Title, depending on your state's
vehicle registration policies, but it would be a snap with a Canadian
Title to turn in and a real drawn out process if I didn't have one.
By the way, US Customs didn't ask for a title for the Carrier.
Hope this info helps.
Cheers,
Jim Burrill
