Maurizio,

Further to the good advice from Fred and Nigel, anything outside London
will require private transport and you need to check your visit dates to
see if there are any events going on at the time, certainly the War and
Peace show at Beltring would keep you going on MV's for a long time
indeed, you will need at least two of the three days to see it as a
minimum.

The IWM and Duxford are worthwhile although Duxford is a good hours
drive away to the north.

The surplus dealers don't take kindly to people just wanting to clamber
around whatever happens to be sitting in their yards and a telephone
appointment is normally essential with a specific agenda for
vehicles/parts.

The two biggest dealers, Witham Specialist Vehicles and A F Budge are a
long way north of London and you have little or no chance of a
self-guided tour just to see whats there, you can ask though.

Together with bad experiences of visitors pilfering parts, the heavy
hand of the EEC has fallen on the "scrap-yards", so the public either
has to be protected from nasty bits of bent metal and some leaking
fluids or kept out completely - the easy and cheap option. Most of the
car scrap places now remove the commonly required parts themselves and
sell it from the shelf, gone are the days when you could spend a happy
hour or two with your tool box removing a gem of a part.
