Though my M135, a 2-1/2 ton GMC similar to the M211, doesn't shimmy,
I racked my and the front end specialists' brains trying to figure out why
my 1971 GMC 1/2 ton van and my '68 Chevy pickup would shimmy. At
times it they would just do it without provocation, other times a pot hole
would set them off. We finally mounted a shock absorber on the front
cross member and hooked it to the tie rod. I know it's a band aid on the
symptom and not the cure of the real problem, but they don't shimmy.
