Well, first of all, the CJ-2 is different from the CJ-2A. (The CJ-2 were
prototypes built in the 1944 and 1945 time frame, while the CJ-2A are the
production models.) There were CJ-2 prototypes with T-84 transmissions
(T-84X to be exact. The CJ-1 prototypes also used T-84 transmissions.).
The remainder of the CJ-2 prototypes had T-90 side shift transmissions.

The MBs did use T-84J castings. (Ford used their own casting, but it pretty
much the same except for some Ford casting numbers and minor details.)

I guess I don't understand what you mean by a "A class" number. What is
cast on each side of the case? What is the assembly date code stamped on
the top edge of the case?
