They will make it more expensive to own and operate, harder to title and
license anyway possible until thru attrition they are no long on the
road.
This is how the Feds work: They entice the states, counties and cities
to share in matching fed dollars for public projects like highway
construction and maintenance, secondary sewage treatment construction or
hydro electric project, schools, etc. They get the local government
dependant on matching funds needed to augment local tax dollar shortages
to construct and maintain. THEN just when everything looks rosey they
hit you right between the eyes. They FORCE LOCAL GOVERNMENTS TO PASS
LAWS THAT THEY (FEDS) WANT BY THREATENING TO WITHHOLD THESE MATCHING
FUNDS FORM ACTIVE PROJECTS, PROJECTS IN PLANNING AND FUTURE PROJECTS.
Such as......you ready for this..... the motorcycle helmet laws, reduce
speed limits to 55, automobile emmission inspections etc. The feds set a
minimum requirement and the local governemnts can make the laws more
restrictive as long as the minimum is met. Look at California and the
emission laws. You all have experienced these laws and even when the
oppostion was overwelmingly against, the laws were passed.
Why? Because your state's legislature doesn't have the guts to tell the
feds to stick their money where the sun don't shine. It's up to the
legislatures to find the logical reasons for passage. After all it's
"for the good of the people" and we don't know what's good for us.
AND it was your money to belgin with, ie income tax dollars you send the
feds they in turn send back as matching funds WITH STRINGS (sometimes 1"
cable) ATTACHED.
So keep a real sharp eye on the local gov's and what they may want to do
with your dollars 'cause the feds are hiding in the clossets with an
agenda and the check book on a string.
You are going to have to make alot of noise and sabre rattling to get
them (state) to back down. This is where owning an old mil vehicle can
be tough as there is alot of ignorance out there that believe that
because you are different you are a threat. Later, Dirt Man 42 GPW,
