[MV] Replacing oil seals in M38A1

I have determined that the oil seals in both the front and rear ends, as
well as those on the transfer case, leak badly.

Not having attempted to change anything like this before, my question is
this:

Does a guy with reasonable good mechanical aptitude have any business
tearing into these items to replace these seals?

Also, are there any special tools required to do this job?

Any guidance would be appreciated.
