Hello Gang.......... You may be interested in an article I extracted from
Stars and Stripes newspaper........page 5......Monday 25th. May 1998. Here is
SOME of it :-

"The Army's new 2 1/2-ton truck, designed as the combat workhorse of the 21st
century, will remain under a 30mph speed restriction for an indefinite period
while extensive repairs are made to prevent further rollovers, according to
Pentagon officials.
Problems with the power train - cracked flywheel housings, out-of-balance
driveshafts and weakened U-joints - have caused at least one dozen to
overturn. The flaws have hobbled the Army's 18th. Airborne Corps, which
includes units that are the first to go to foreign conflicts.
More than 9,000 are targeted for repair. That includes 4,200 in the hands of
troops at seven Army bases across the United States, 2,000 in the pipeline
and 3,000 vehicles that will be made this year."

The report finishes by saying :-

"Safety documents obtained by Newsday reflect concerns by Army field
commanders about the new truck's high center of gravity. These commanders
ordered drivers to slow to 12mph during turns and to sharply reduce load
height in truck beds".

Any of this sound familiar?

Kind regards......

Ken
