Just received my M35A2. It has been about six weeks since I started my
search and there have been many trucks that I considered purchasing. Jeff
at Tactical had the exact truck that I wanted with a great price tag, the
only problem was distance between him and I. Joe Young also had some
trucks that met my specs and were within my budget, again distance is a
problem. I would like to thank both these guys for their input and time in
dealing with me trying to arrange the right deal. The distance problem
relates to shipping costs. Since I live in the middle of nowhere when it
comes to dealing with military vehicles (South Dakota), shipping costs can
blow a deal right out of the water. To ship a duece from PA or VA to me
would run between $1600-2000. Add that to even a good deal on a truck and
it adds up real quick. I then located a truck in Minnesota which sounded
great, with a decent price tag. John Bizal from Midwest Military indicated
he would stop in and look at it when he was in the area. He called back a
few days later and indicated that the truck in question was not all that it
was advertised to be. A couple of days later, he called back to tell me
about some trucks he had spotted while making some deliveries. He stopped
and spoke with the owner and checked out one of the trucks when he found
the owner was willing to sell.
Although the truck is a non turbo, the rest of my specs were met. Engine
is a LD465-1. Truck has only 6800 miles, exceptionally clean, rebuilt in
1990. No rust or dents, runs and drives excellent, tires are all 75-80%
with new spare and a new set of 6TL batteries. All canvas appears to be
like new. The only thing I found not to be working was the passenger side
wiper. I have located most of the items needed to convert engine to a
turbo, so I will be doing this later in the summer.
Again, thanks to all who responded in my search and special thanks to John
Bizal for taking his time to inspect and locate the right truck for me.
