Gas cans need to be made of metal for grounding of static electricity! A
static discharge spark while refilling your Jeep with with gasoline
could easily ruin your day....You may note that all aircraft are
grounded to the fuel truck or pump during refueling for just this
reason.

I wouldn't worry much about a spark from your water jug though.
