Yes, I have swapped them. The winches themselves are identical, some sources
say the brake housings are rotated 90 degrees apart though. The driveshafts
and PTO are different. The M35 runs off the transmission PTO, the Hydramatic
PTO runs off the transfer case. The GMC PTO driveshaft is the hardest part
of the setup to find. I forgot which way you are going to trade, but either
way, here are some things to know....
The M35 uses frame extensions, bumper flips over, and depending on year
model, headlight panels MAY flip over and move up. Winch bolts, with special
bolts directly to frame extensions.
M135/211 no frame extensions, just flip bumper over, remove center section of
splash panel. Two HEAVY pieces of steel bolt to ends of winch, and bolt to
frame. There are two heavy shims that go between these mounting brackets and
the frame at the rear attachment point.
You'll need also the lever and linkage for the kind of truck you are going
into, because the two types are completely different.
Its a Garwood CA514 winch, but I think its been exactly copied by other
makers because all mine don't say Garwood on them, just the older ones.

Hope this helps,
David Doyle
