[MV] Oil for Ford G39T

Hello all.
I've just bought a Ford G39T which is a Ford Germany build ambulance.
My question is: the manual says change oil every 1500 km (1000 Miles).
I guess this is with old types of oil. How often can I change it with
modern synthetic oils, or can I even use them. The engine has, as far as
I know, no oil filter. The engine only ran 15000 miles.
