1) During 1940, the French Army used a vehicle named the Chennillette. The
Chennillette was an armored infantry carrier. Was it fully tracked or
wheeled, or a halftrack? How many infantry did it carry on board? Did it
have any weapons mounted on the vehicle? Most other nations' armored
infantry carriers & halftracks carried a full squad of 11-12 men on board. I
have found neither any pictures of this vehicle nor a good description of
it.
2) The French used another armored vehicle, the Renault-ZT. It was a small,
tracked, open-topped armored carrier with a single machine gun. It was very
similar to the British Bren carrier. It carried a squad or half-squad on
board. Just how many infantry did it carry on board? Did it have any weapons
mounted on the vehicle? This vehicle may have been the Chennillette, but I
don't know. From the material I have read so far, I had the impression the
Renault-ZT and the Chennillette were two separate vehicles.
Can anyone provide info on these vehicles?
Thanks,
David Doyle
