Bob,

Basically here in France you can purchase from three sources :
* Public auction from the French Army (2 or 3 per year but getting
more and more rare). The vehicles are in this case Hotchkiss brand =
M201, not
always running, prices in the range of 20,000 - 30,000 FRF (3,500 - =
5,000
USD)
* Purchased from a garage or MV specialist (more expensive but better
condition - prices from 5,000 to 6,500 USD)
* Purchase privately from an individual person, and here everything is
possible. This is the way I did: 3 years ago I bought a =
Hotchkiss-Willys
M201 model 1960 from a guy in Marseilles (South France) for 25,000 FRF
(4,200 USD). Very good mechanic condition but bad body. I have spent =
about
15,000 FRF (2,500 USD) of parts and paints to restore it. It has a US =
layout
but of course is not really a genuine WW2 vehicle. If I wanted to sell =
it it
would be around 40,000 FRF (6,500 USD). I have some pics if anyone
interrested.

The big problem with french rebuilt MB & GPW in La Maltourn=E9e is that =
all
vehicles coming from the WW2 surplus in the 50's were completely =
dismantled
and all the parts were mixed together. No chance to find a 100% GPW or =
MB
(for example my M201 has a Ford motor head and an MB frame).
Anyway the next project for me is to find a genuine GPW and make an
extensive and accurate restoration.=20
