[MV] CARC info for newbie

Hi!
I've been following along now for several months, but this is my first post.
I must say that I am impressed at how helpful, sincere, and friendly
everyone is on the list as this seems to get rarer and rarer these days.
Some clarification if you will: I've read all the posts in the archives and
just about every other document I could find relating to CARC and it's
usage. What I cannot determine is just how dangerous working with cured CARC
is, i.e. sanding, scraping, sandblasting. Every document I found seemed to
indicate the danger was primarily with the VOCs and the isocyanates in the
hardener when the product is being applied, but this is true of most
urethane automotive finishes, no? Exactly what precautions would be
sufficient if one wanted to strip a vehicle in order to repaint (with a
non-CARC paint)? Would a regular paint shop dust mask be OK?
Have been looking at and bidding on several M35A2s and one has desert tan
CARC, which I don't much care for (no offense to those whose taste is
otherwise, but that color just doesn't fit into the woods of Michigan.)
Would leave CARC in place, but it appears to have been applied over several
other layers of finish, and just doesn't look good anymore.
Sorry for the length, others in future will be shorter.

Jay Keine
