Something that I feel many reenactors overlook is cargo capacity. I see many
reenactors drive a pickup, full of gear and tow a Jeep to site and spend
hours loading, unloading, etc.
Personally, I do not reenact, I am strictly a vehicle guy, but my pals & I
drive to these reenactments in our vehicles, all capable of making 40-55
without undo strain, park and set up shelter from the sun and we are done.
>From the outside looking in, it would seem that WC-something, well
maintained, could be driven to and from events, hauling your gear, and
storing your gear in the vehicle between events. This seems to me, a lot
easier than before every event, taking your gear from storage, loading it,
towing a Jeep, unloading it, unloading your gear from the tow vehicle,
finding a secure, out of sight place to park the tow vehicle (and trailer if
used), walking or hitching a ride back to camp, then reversing all of this
when you are done.
Also, if you are thinking of trailering a vehicle, and do not plan to leave
vehicle on trailer when not in use, the storage space of a CCKW is probably
less than the space required by a Jeep and trailer to haul it.
Of course all of this is out the window IF you want a SPECIFIC vehicle which
is not suited for over the road travel (Weasel, half-track, etc), but you
seem to be approaching this from an anything-WWII-will-do standpoint.

Good luck,
David Doyle
