There is a cemetery southeast of New Albany, Miss. that has a 10 foot high
marble obelisk monument, that is to four brother that lost their life in the
war. None of the bodies were recovered. Their name was Wilkins. The first
to die was Jonathan, 19, he died in military hospital - his epitaph reads
"Rest, soldier, rest, thy warfare o'er" Second was James, 27, died in
battle, His inscription, "Nobly he fell while fighting for liberty". Two
years later William, 26, on guard duty, "Died on the field of battle; 'Twas
noble thus to die" On Halloween the same year, Oregon,19, in P.O.W. jail, "A
friend to his country and a believer in Christ" As we approach the 4th of
July I think this would be appropriate and hope that you see fit to let me
post it.
Thanks Everett Doyle
