Also, the HUT (Highway Use Tax), which is based on the value of the vehicle,
was $87.50 (3% of value of vehicle stated by the State of North Carolina)
when I tried to get a title for my CJ10A. My question is, how can the State
state a value on a vehicle that they don't even know what it is? What are
they basing there values on? When I bought the Jeep from the DRMO, it was in
condition HX.
Also, I got a Toyota truck, 1990. The same thing happened to me with that
also. I got the truck for $100 because it had been in a wreck and the engine
was hydrolocked, so I would have to spend over 2K just on the engine and more
to fix the body, but the NCDMV said the truck was worth $7K, which I think is
BS. The truck isn't worth near that much. I don't know why the State
doesn't charge the HUT by the cost not the apparent value by what they say.
I guess it is so the state can get more money from the public and rip us off.
Oh well, yall don't need to hear about my problems. I'm appealing the HUT
charges and hopefully I can get some of my money back.
