RE: Ford GP # 14481. This is one of a production run of 4458
1/4 ton model GP trucks produced by Ford Motor Company at their Rouge Plant
in Dearborn, Michigan in 1941 through 1942.
To get a good idea of the value of this and any other GP's you should
first check if the body and chassis SN match the motor SN.
The motor SN should look like this *GP 14481* . This adds greatly to
the value of these jeeps as all numbers should match. Of course the MOST
IMPORTANT item to look for is if it has the original carb (Holly 847D).
The carb alone is worth two to three times the asking price for this
vehicle. The correct carb will have a flat top with a rim around it and
three unevenly spaced holes tapped for the air horn. The correct right
angle distributor, updraft intake manifold , correct head (marked GP-6050)
, correct seats, and non-vented solid rims will add several thousand
dollars to the value. I have 7 1/2 Ford GP's (one four wheel steer) and
most of these parts are missing on all of them. Expect to spend $$$$$$$$$$
to restore one of these jeeps.
If anyone on the list needs any further info on the GP please contact
me directly.
