I used to work for the British Ministry of Defence and I can confirm that
as many changes as possible were made to as much kit as possible in order
to stop the gear "going home".
At the same time the advantages of the 24V system are there for all to see.
There is nothing wrong with enhancing performance and reducing "losses" at
the same time. MOD engine oil was OMD - major snags if mixed with
conventional oil. Metals were made to specific formulae. A quick test
would show the metals' origins. Ropes had a coloured thread through the
middle and maritime electrical systems were 440 Volts. Even paints were
specially formulated and.........believe this as you will,.......The MOD
even has it's own, marked, prophylactics (condoms), although just who would
be checking their origins remains to be seen. :-)
Just my 50 Satang's worth.
