[MV] Tainted elections

Hi folks,

As a recent member of the MVPA, I don't know the history of Jim
Gilmore or the MVPA board of directors.

I do know that a tainted election could rip the MVPA apart and see it
mired in legal action and finger pointing instead of promoting the
preservation of historic military vehicles (including the ones with
guns and armour!!)

There have been waaaaaay too many situations of a committee controling
an organization rather than let the membership decide.

If there is to be any resolution to this with the MVPA, I, for one,
feel that at the least Gilmore's name is added to the ballot and let
the vote be taken.

I think the MVPA set it's mark about Gilmor's qualification when it
accepted his nomination previously. Short of criminal activity, I
don't see how they can renege after the fact and still maintain any
credibility.

Frankly, boys, I think you shot yourselves in the foot with this
move.Don't shoot up the rest of the organization as well.

I just re-read the intro letter for the election in SUPPLY LINE.
Considering what all is going on, I thought it worth the bother to
re-type part of it here:

"The selection of the Board of Directors is in your hands. It is you,
the membership, who will determine who will govern your Association
and make the policy decisions of the future. It is your responsability
to participate in this selection by marking your ballot and mailing it
in. Vote and be counted."

I have to think, if Jim Gilmore was such a bad person, he wouldn't get
elected, so not even placing him on the ballot was a move that only
served to factionalize the membership.
