M35 power by OA-331 gas engine (Reo "Gold Comet") engines built by Reo &
Continental. Trucks built by Reo & Studebaker, Studebaker-Packard and
Curtiss-Wright. Maybe Utica-Bend, I'm not 5 speed manual transmission with
5th being direct. Self-engaging sprag unit for front axle drive.
M35A1 power by LDS427-2 multifuel engine. All the 427's I've seen built by
Continental (but I haven't seen them all). The trucks built by Reo plus
others. 5 speed manual with 5th being overdrive.
M35A2 power by LD465-1 or LDT4651C (T denoting turbocharged, not for power,
but to reduce exhaust emissions.) engines built under license from M.A.N. by
continental and Hercules. 5 speed manual with 5th overdrive. Air shift
sprag. Trucks built by Reo, Kaiser-Jeep, General Products Division, AM
General. Maybe others.
All the above trucks look basicly alike.
M35A3 is remanufactured older vehicle. Has new engine, straight diesel,
although I don't remember if it is Cat or Cummins, automatic transmission
installed. Super single tires and the reverse sloped hood are easy spotting
features.
Hope this helps,
David
