Today I bought a USA, G, QMC, marked jerrycan to put on my 1943 Ford GPW. On
top it says Wheeling 20-5 1/4-43. Curious about it is that it is painted red
and a text in black is sprayed on it saying PENEX L 46. Does any of you know
what this might mean? Under the red is the original OD. I want to
restore/overpaint it to its original green color. Just would like to know or
the red color and text is something special before doing so.... I also would
like to or the 43 on top means that it was produced in 1943.
