this is a common problem caused by the clutch disk being worn. if the
disk is worn past the grooves on its face it may not float free of the
flywheel when pressure is taken off of it. the grooves allow air to flow
in and help with release action.......
when you have the trans out be sure to check and perhaps replace at
least the disk and release bearing.
