I came in a little late on the discussion, so I don't have the whole story,
but enough to know there is supposed to be an auction of HMMWV's for off raod
use only.

In talking with a very knowledgeable guy who restored a HMMWV at the Southern
Oregon event, Operation Evergreen, (absolutely incredible job too) he says
seeing is believing. He has heard all kinds of rumors for years and none
have ever been true. He says that HMMWV's other than wrecks are not sold to
the public yet, they are refurbished at the factory and returned to service.
This was the latest, best information just a few weeks back. That much I
know for fact as I personally asked DRMO.

I just want to hear from one person they have seen them and confirmed this
HMMWV auction.

Also licensing things as an implement of husbandry (farm equipment) is legal
as long as the item can remotely be viewed as such. That's my professional
opinion as a retired police supervisor. Is a jeep an implement of husbandry?
I don't see why not, sure are a lot of other fun items similar that are
classed that way.

Heard one of the reasons the DOT was supposed to be reluctant to license the
mil-veh version for road use was the lack of a "padded dash"! lol

Hope the auction is true, but...
