DETAILS
1-1963 MODEL M-37, WITH 38,000 MILES SHOWING ON A WORKING SPEEDOMETER.
2-RUNS AND DRIVES GREAT!
3-STARTS LIKE A DREAM, EVERY TIME
4-PARKED IN A BARN EVERY NIGHT SINCE 1982, SO NOT MUCH RAIN ON IT IN LAST 17
YEARS
5-USED ON A DAIRY FARM SINCE 1982 WHEN BOUGHT FROM THE FORESTRY SERVICE.
6-THE FOLLOWING IGNITION WORK HAS BEEN DONE:
A. NEW PLUG WIRES
B. COMPLETE CARBURETOR OVERHAUL (LOOKS GREAT, RUNS GREAT!)
C. CLEANED PLUGS (ADDED ONE NEW ONE)
D. NEW COIL AND CONDENSER, AND DISTRIBUTOR FILTER UNIT
E. NEW POINTS AND SET CORRECTLY TO 0.018".
F. NEW DISTRIBUTOR CAP
G. NEW ROTOR BUTTON
H. ONE BRAND NEW BATTERY, OTHER USED BUT IN GREAT SHAPE
7-ALL NEW BOARDS FOR TROOP SEATS AND END RACK,W/ ALL NEW BOLTS, NUTS ETC.
8-ALL NEW TOP BOW UPRIGHTS AND CROSSMEMBERS (I DONT HAVE THE LAST TWO TOP
BOW CORNERS, THEY ONLY COST $6 EACH AND WILL TAKE 5 MINUTES TO INSTALL!)
9-NEW BRAKE FLUID, BLED ALL BRAKE WHEEL CYLINDERS EXCEPT ONE, IT WOULDN'T
OPEN. BRAKES WORK GOOD AFTER YOU PUMP THEM UP FIRST TIME, THEN OK UNTIL IT
SITS FOR A WHILE. I PUT LIQUID WRENCH ON IT, SHOULD BE LOOSE SOON.
10-ALL WINDOWS HAVE CRACKS, BUT ALL ARE INTACT AND NO SCRATCHES, THEY ARE
QUITE CLEAR TO BE USABLE.
11-SIDE WINDOWS ROLL UP AND DOWN GREAT, NEW WHITE BODY GREASE APPLIED TO ALL
GEARS AND REGULATORS.
12-NO SPARE GAS CAN HOLDER, BUT BRACKETS ARE THERE
13-BED SIDES ARE GREAT, BUT BED BOTTOM HAS A GOOD BIT OF RUSTOUTS ESPECIALLY
TOWARD THE CAB. THIS VEHICLE WAS USED TO FEED HAY TO CATTLE, AND THE
RESIDUAL HAY WAS WIND SWEPT TOWARD THE CAB AND LAY MOIST, CAUSING THE
RUSTOUT. COULD BE PATCHED WITH SHEETMETAL EASILY.
14-I HAVE ONE TOOL BOX DOOR (NOT ATTACHED) OTHER IS MISSING.
15-ORIGINAL PAINT IS IN REALLY GOOD SHAPE!
16-ORIGINAL STARS, UNIT MARKINGS ALL INTACT! I REPAINTED ALL THE STARS VERY
CAREFULLY, AND THEN CAREFULLY RESTORED MOST OF THE UNIT MARKINGS.
17-SEAT SPRINGS ARE IN GREAT SHAPE, BUT WILL EVENTUALLY NEED BETTER CANVAS
IF RESTORED.
18-ALL SHEETMETAL IS IN REALLY EXCELLENT SHAPE EXCEPT BED BOTTOM, ONE
RUSTOUT IN BOTTOM REAR OF CAB BEHIND PASSENGER SEAT (4 INCHES LONGX1/2"
HIGH, EASY FIX) AND A LITTLE PITTING AND FLAKING IN THE FLOORBOARD TUNNEL
COVER. ABSOLUTELY FIXABLE, THIS IS NOT A FLINTSTONE FLOORBOARD!
19-HAVE A FEW EXTRA PARTS: SPARE TOP BOW CROSSMEMBER AND ONE UPRIGHT, SET OF
FRONT KNUCKLE SEALS (NOS) A PILE OF IGNITION PARTS, ONE WHEEL RIM, ETC.
20-The Marvel Mystery oil got all the valves working, I cleaned the plugs
good after the mystery oil and the engine runs great at all RPM's
21-The brakes are coming back to life, no new parts neede, just new fluid
and a lot
of use will be all it ever needs.
22-Oil pressure reads 25 pounds.
23-Water temp sits right on 180 degrees.
24-Lights work, for the most part, and only missing one right rear light
unit.
25-All wiring is in really great shape, original, almost no add-ins or
cobble-ups.
26-Nice tires, good shape, CO-OP farm tread but look almost desert military.
27-Cherry bomb muffler has gotta go. Sounds like a dragster!
28-I never liked M37 Dodge before: "so ugly only a mother could love it",
but
now I really like it!
29-Remaining wasp nests located and destroyed.
Thanks for all the good mechanical advice from you guys on the list!
