THANKS JOHN
FOR THE AUSSIE INFO ON GPW CHASSIS NOS,
HOWEVER ARE THOSE 5 SURVIVING EXAMPLES MATCHING
NUMBERS ?
MAYBE THE SITUATION IN THE PTO WAS DIFFERENT
FROM THE SITUATION IN EUROPE, WERE THE WAR CAME TO
AN END EARLY IN 1945. IF THE VEHICLES WERE PRODUCED IN
JULY 1944 THEY MAY NOT HAVE ARRIVED IN EUROPE BEFORE
END OF 1944. AT THIS TIME THE FORCES HAD AMPLE MATERIAL
ON THE CONTINENT AND THE VEHICLES MIGHT HAVE BEEN KEPT
IN A DEPOT IN BRITAIN...
WOULD YOU KNOW IF THE EXAMPLES IN AUSTRALIA WERE
ACTUALLY ASSEMBLED AND USED BY THE FORCES DURING
THE WAR ? ANY MARKINGS ETC ? CONCERNING THE THREE
EXAMPLES IN GERMANY, BEARING IN MIND THEIR CONDITION,
I THOUGHT THEY MIGHT NOT HAVE REACHED THE TROOPS
AND WERE SOLD AS SURPLUS (CRATED ?) IN 1946/1947. BEAR
IN MIND THAT MY GPW 213313 HAS AN ORIGINAL BRITISH CIVIL
REGISTRATION FROM 1947 !

KEEP THEM ROLLING...
