Thanks to all that helped me out with the problem I was having with my
M37. Turns out that the head was not cracked but the head gasket had not
sealed properly. I removed the head and check both the block and head with
a straight edge. both checked out fine. did the pressure check again and
found out it was not leaking around the head again, but the rings where more
than likely stuck, I poured M.M. Oil down each cyl while I had the head
off. I let it sit for about 2 hours. Then replaced the head and placed some
90 weight oil into the cyl to act as temp rings to get it cranked. Adjusted
the timeing and started to trying to crank her. She turned over about 3
times and fired right up, blew two old wasp nets out the exhaust, she still
has a small skip. didn't run her more than ten mins b/c the radiator is out
of her. I had a water hose hooked up to the water pump (a design of my own)
to keep water running though the engine. She ran about 10 mins like I said
with very little smoke after the oil in the cyl burnt out. One ring has not
seated (I think that is the skip). Will let run for a while when I get the
radiator back in. OVer all she ran great. Thanks for all the help,
couldn't of done it without the list, or for as little as I spent on getting
it going.
By the way, does anybody have one of the water bypass fittings for the top
of the water pump, I need one.
thanks for the help again.
