Hi Ben,
They always told me that during the war leaded fuel was not used, they only
used it
in airplane engines from '43 on. They build all engines with hardened valve
seats.
After the war when leaded fuel became common all rebuild engines were changed
to the softer valve seats. This is one of the main problems with the unleaded
fuel
nowadays, everyone that has a rebuild engine in his Dodge or GMC (most ex-
Norwegian army) has to change to hardened valve seats in order to be able to
let
it run trouble free un unleaded fuel.
